Call for Book and Media Reviews Editor

Jazz and Culture courteously invites interested scholars to apply for the position of Book and Media Reviews Editor. We are continuing to strengthen and grow our presence in jazz scholarship and provide groundbreaking research on the jazz genre.

The Reviews Editor will work in close collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief whose role is to oversee and manage the editorial process. Duties will include helping circulate calls for reviews, selecting review submissions, contacting presses to arrange having review copies sent to reviewers, following up with authors on the progress on their edits, and working with journal staff on obtaining appropriate paperwork for authors. Please note that this is a volunteer position and there is no monetary compensation available at this time.

Jazz and Culture is a biannual, peer-reviewed publication devoted to publishing cutting-edge research on jazz from multiple perspectives. All methodological approaches are welcome, including ethno/musicology, music theory, and critical and cultural studies. Drawing upon recent trends in music scholarship, we further seek to interrogate a range of issues connecting music, race, class, gender, and other realms of social practice. We particularly encourage submissions exploring the music’s international scope.

For consideration for the position, please email a CV and brief note outlining your interest in the position to Pittjazz@pitt.edu by February 1, 2021. Scholars working on jazz topics from any disciplinary perspective are welcome to apply.
